What steps should i take if i want to work in business marketing?

I am currently a sophmore at St Johns Univ and other than taking the business courses i'd like to get a hands on experience as a marketer. What should I be doing throughout my college years for prep!? What type of marketing projects should i start to work on?

When your finished with school do you want to own a business or do you want a job running another mans dream? A degree is not the key to success…

  2. To get your foot in the door, consider interning at a local agency. This will help you see from the inside if the hours and work are something you can handle. It'll also give the agency a platform to see your talent (assuming you have some). It will basically tell you if this is something worth your time or if you need to go in a new direction.

  4. You should practice your marketing skills. Get a good portfolio going with past successes. You can only do this through work experience.
